Development of a smart distribution panel that reduces standby power and saves electricity bills.

All-in-One distribution panel that prevents power waste, electrical fires, and gas accidents

The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT, President Park Seon-gyu) announced the development of a smart distribution panel utilizing mobile power management technology.

This smart distribution panel is expected to contribute to energy savings and a safer home environment, featuring features that block standby power and prevent electrical and gas safety accidents.

The recent proliferation of home appliances and smart home devices has led to a surge in standby power consumption in households, consuming an average of approximately 2,700 kWh of electricity annually and generating electricity bills of approximately 35,000 won. In particular, the mandatory installation of standby power-blocking outlets in apartment complexes will be eliminated in 2022, necessitating energy conservation measures.

The smart distribution panel developed by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology (KICT) features a built-in power management module that can be controlled via a mobile device. This allows users to monitor and control their power usage via their mobile phone. It also allows for automatic power cuts during unneeded periods.

Test results showed a reduction of over 80% in standby power, saving households approximately 28,000 won per household in annual electricity bills. When applied to new buildings, the system is expected to achieve a return on investment within approximately nine years.

It also has built-in temperature, spark, smoke, and gas detection sensors to immediately send an alert when a fire is detected inside the distribution panel and remotely shuts off the gas valve to prevent secondary accidents.

This achievement was achieved through the cooperation between the Construction Research Institute's Research and Development Reserve Fund Support Project and the small and medium-sized enterprise Enerfive Co., Ltd. (CEO: Eun-tae Kim).

이번 성과는 건설연 연구개발 적립금 지원사업과 중소기업인 ㈜에너파이브(대표: 김은태)의 협력을 통해 이루어졌습니다.
